Date:20.08.2008

Dear Sir,

Sub:- HAM-TECH 2008, Expo & Conference Hyderabad (International Convention of Hams) coinciding NIAR Silver Jubilee Celebrations during 18-20 October, 2008–reg.

It gives me a great pleasure to invite you to HAM-TECH 2008, Expo & Conference being held at NIAR, Hyderabad during October 18-20th 2008. A brochure giving more details is enclosed.

The National Institute of Amateur Radio (NIAR), with its objectives to promote amateur radio, has reached a milestone of completion of 25 years with a reputation of being a world-class institution for its activities and achievements.

Amateur radio service is a continuous process in the path to scientific development. Over 3 million radio amateurs around the world involve in innovating and bringing out latest technologies to the art of radio communications, which has earned them recognition “Amateur Radio – A National Resource”. Amateur radio in India, even after 60 years of Independence, has not attracted the attention its policy makers to encourage this socially useful scientific activity for the benefit of its people.

HAM-TECH 2008 is being organised with an objective to provide competitive and creative environment to bring out innovative ideas and overcome challenges in this field as well as to foster growth of science and technology through various programs in the field of amateur radio. Contributing to the art of Radio Communication, it also has a unique advantage to showcase the best available talent.

Several Amateur Radio communication experts (HAMs) from India and abroad have already committed to participate in this event. The program is specially designed to provide unique opportunity for non-ham participants to explore amateur (Ham) radio. It also provides an opportunity to interact with several international and national experts, which is rare in our country.

Amateur Radio also promotes International Tourism as well as free exchange of S&T information which benefits people. Amateur Satellite (AMSAT) groups around the world appreciate India which has recently put 10 satellites in orbit in a single launch. 7 out of 10 are Amateur Radio satellites supported by universities in Canada, Germany, Japan Netherlands, Denmark, to encourage their students. HAM-TECH-2008 will have a forum to discuss on utilising amateur satellites and initiatives to motivate schools/colleges in India to encourage their students to take more active role in future satellite launches.

I would like to request and Invite to make it convenient to attend the HAM-TECH-2008 at NIAR, Hyderabad. You may also nominate members of your organisation for this event.

                                   Thanking you.                                                                      Yours sincerely,

                                                                                                                                        (S.Suri)

                                                                                                                                   Chairman, NIAR
